Just bought Ranma 1/2 Season 2

So I just bought the Ranma 1/2 Season 2 DVD Box set. I wanted to buy Season 1, but it wasn't available, so I got the second one instead. Here's a picture:

Spent pretty much the rest of the entire day watching the whole thing. This show's pretty awesome. I've uploaded the two openings and ending from this set to YouTube, they can be found here:

Ranma 1/2 Opening 1 (with hardcoded spanish subtitles, taken from the extras section)
Ranma 1/2 Opening 2
Ranma 1/2 Ending 2.

I will probably get the other seasons too, eventually; this show is pretty awesome.

Back home

So I got home. The holidays... sucked. Hard. I twisted my neck, got headaches, and a bunch of other issues I'd rather not talk about. I feel better now, but... eh.

So two days until I leave for holidays...

So in two days I'm gonna leave for holidays. Let's hope there's no powerouts or anything that'd bring down the server where this blog is running...  I'm still gonna be online with a mobile connection.

Detective Conan, Opening 6, and international footage issues

When TMS, the creators of the Detective Conan anime, sold the footage to any company outside Japan, some changes were made to said footage, whether for legal reasons or just because they felt like it. Among them were the removal of japanese text from the openings and endings, translation of the ending credits, splitting of 1h special episodes in half, and probably due to legal reasons, the sixth opening animation was also removed and replaced with the fifth one in all episodes that featured it. Or at least, it should have.

Flash forward to 1h special episode 162, "Shinichi Kudo's first case aboard an airplane". When splitting this episode, they apparently forgot to replace the opening. So we DID end up getting the sixth opening, even if just for a few episodes. So without further ado, here's the magic sixth opening to Detective Conan that was never meant to be seen outside of Japan =P

Animax recordings

So, here's a few more anime openings and endings I recorded off Animax:

Detective Conan: Opening 8
Detective Conan: Ending 10
Saint Seiya: Opening (Complete, since they finally aired it in full as opposed to fading it out after the last lyric)

Also, my parents are now off to Italy on holidays, while I get to stay alone at home for 10 days. Pretty neat =P

Saint Seiya... subtitled?!

So yeah, apparently Animax suddenly decided to air Saint Seiya subtitled as opposed to the old, horrible portuguese dub from 1999. So what does this mean for me?

Well, for one, I can actually watch this now =P. Seriously, the portuguese dub, while mostly accurate in terms of script, had the flattest voice acting I've ever seen in a show. Saori sounded like a robot. Thank you, Animax.

End of the semester

So I had my last exam today; I probably definitely won't pass at this particular subject (CG - Computer Graphics), but I did pass in ES (Software Engineering), SD ( Distributed Systems) and Mod (Modeling), so overall it was still a pretty good semester. So now that I actually have some free time for myself, I wonder what I'll do for the next month and half? Maybe work a bit more on xm4smps?

YouTube deletions and copyright issues

So I just got a video deleted from YouTube due to copyright infringement. What was it? A FUCKING OPENING. A ONE MINUTE AND THIRTEEN SECONDS OPENING.

To be exact, here's the exact email I got:

Come on. It's an opening. A FUCKING OPENING. It's not like someone watching that is going to harm TV airings or DVD sales or whatever. Ugh.

For the record, that kanji or hiragana or whatever up there is "Shin-ei Animation Inc.", the guys who created the Doraemon anime. Thanks to franz for romanizing it for me.

Oh, and here's the actual video file that I'd uploaded to YouTube in the first place, if anyone cares.

US Dragon Box release

So apparently FUNimation has decided to release the DBZ Dragon Box in the US. For those unaware, the Dragon Box is *THE* definitive collectors' set for anything Dragon Ball. For more information, see  ANN's news article of it. And by the way... I think I just saw a pig fly by, and hell freeze over. On another matter, studying for CG is boring as hell.

Yesterday and today in Detective Conan

In yesterday and today's episodes of Detective Conan, Shinichi is getting back into his adult life, while Haibara reminds him to be careful with public appearances. Shinchi takes Ran to dinner where he plans to declare his love for her, but can't bring himself to actually say it. When it seems like he's finally going to manage to do it, a murder happens and Ran tells him to go solve it. Shinichi discovers how the murder was committed as usual, but starts feeling a strong pain in his chest while doing so. Once he finishes the case, he runs to the bathroom where Haibara is waiting for him, as he reverts back to Conan. Conan then has to lie to Ran about Shinichi going off on a case again.

By the way, they started subtitling Haibara's name wrong again. Damn it.

This weekend on Detective Conan...

There are moments of inspiration where he discovers the truth. Once he has, nothing can stop him. With the body of a child and the mind of an adult, when Detective Conan's on the job, no case is left unsolved!

This weekend's 5 episodes of Detective Conan were as follows:

- The first episode is the second part of a case where a man managed to stab his wife while several kilometers away on a police station. Conan figures out the method that the man used involving an exercise bike, a string, a bookcase and a knife.

 - On the second episode, the junior detective league is on a train. A guy is taking pictures of said train from a ladder, but suddenly, the ladder strangely falls and he falls into the rails! Fortunately, the train stops in time, but they then discover that another person died on the train during the emergency break! As usual, of course, Conan solves the case.

- On the third episode, Conan, Ran and Detective Mouri are watching a show where a man seems to drown during a Sentai-style show being put up for kids. While initially the case points to a suicide, Conan discovers that the man was really murdered before the show even started.

- On the fourth and fifth episodes, Jiromi, the sister of a girl called Megumi that Detective Mouri used to teach is killed by a bomb set in Megumi's car. Initially it is discovered that the bomb was really meant for Megumi and was caused by her husband, who was having an affair with Jiromi, but further investigation by Conan and Mouri discovers that Megumi actually knew of the bomb beforehand, and purposely had her sister drive her car so she wuld die.

All in all, pretty cool stuff. Now let's hope tomorrow I don't miss the rerun of the episode I forgot to record and watch last Friday :/

Also, in today's second episode of Lupin III (I missed the first one), Goemon's indestructible sword, the Tetsuken, is stolen by Fujiko and sold to an evil man called Carmone. Lupin, Goemon and Jigen have to get the Tetsuken back before Carmone, who is using it in a remote-controlled plane, manages to cause too much damage with it. And why is Fujiko taking pictures in the mean-time? Lupin and co eventually manage to defeat Carmone by using the one thing the Tetsuken can't cut through: Konyaku (which is apparently a kind of potato).

Subtitled Sonic X!

So apparently 4Kids is actually going through and putting the japanese version of Sonic X on YouTube with english subtitles. A preview was made available here, or if you're region-blocked by the virtue of not being American (aka if you live in Europe like me, or anywhere else that isn't the US), I mirrored it here. Pretty awesome stuff either way /images/emoticons/mozilla_smile.gif

Oh, and I laughed at the "This English isn't grammatically correct" translation note. TMS and their silly international footage changes =P

Today in Detective Conan...

Yesterday in Detective Conan, the episode ended on a cliffhanger with Haibara pointing a gun at Conan. Turns out it was a fake gun only to scare Conan into not telling Ran the truth. Meanwhile, Ran is starring at a play at school as a princess, however, a murder happens during the play! After a lol part where Jattori faked being Shinichi and got promptly caught by Kazuja, it's discovered that the victim was murdered due to cyanide poisoning. Through reasoning it's determined that the culprit is one of four, but the episode ends there.

On a different matter, my internet connection's back, fortunately.

Today in Conan...

In today's Detective Conan, Guenta, Mitsujiko and Ayumi surprisingly managed to figure out the way out of the cave by deduction and get away from the bad guys by attracting the bats to them. As they're being chased, Guenta's shot in the leg right next to the exit and they're cornered. The still unconscious Conan is taken hostage just as the police arrives (having been called by Agasa and Haibara after they found the '110' message), but he manages to regain consciousness just long enough to shoot a tranquilizer dart at the guy taking him hostage. Conan is then taken to the hospital, however he lost too much blood and needs a transfusion. Ran comes forward somehow knowing she has the same blood type as Conan, which leads him to realize that she likely knows he's really Shinichi Kudo. After a conversation about it with Jattori, Conan decides that he'll tell Ran the truth, but then suddenly Haibara points a gun at his head! What'll happen next? Well, I guess I'll find that out tomorrow =P
The quality of the subtitles seems to be getting better, since we finally get to have Haibara's name properly written as opposed to "Jaibara", as well as "Agasa" (as opposed to "Prof. Jákase", which is just plain wrong).

On another note, my Internet connection's still down after the whole damn day. Ugh...

Today (or rather, yesterday), in Conan...

In today's episode of Detective Conan (well, yesterday's really... they rerun episodes early in the next day), the kids go into a cave and Guenta witnesses a murder. Trying to get away, Conan gets shot, and they eventually get lost within the cave. The bad guys reach them just as Conan faints from blood loss, close to finding the exit. How will they get out of this? Well, I'll have to wait until later today to find that out /images/emoticons/mozilla_tongueout.gif. Also Ran seems to be getting closer and closer to figuring out that Conan's really Shinichi...

And my internet connection's still not working. Ugh.
